which tarot path are you walking?

are you brand new to the tarot in general, or to me here at 3am.tarot? have you been reading cards for awhile but feel like you've hit a plateau in your readings? or maybe you're craving a new resource, but aren't sure where to start? maybe you are ready to level up your practice, and could use a guide to help you find your next adventure?

i've got you covered. check out the interactive quiz below for insights into which tarot paths might be a good fit, then click through to explore the many tarot paths available — each with a few recommended 3am.tarot resources to get you started on your journey.

i create a lot of tarot resources — let's find the ones that will best meet you where you are.

the crossroads quiz: which tarot path is right for you? if you’re interested in exploring a new tarot resource, but aren’t sure where to start, this old school quiz is for you. grab a scrap of paper and record your choices as you go through the following questions — paying attention to whichever letter you choose the most often. if you can’t decide between two answers, write down them both. you’ll be able to see all of the possible choices and explore all nine potential pathways at the end, and ultimately decide for yourself.

i highly recommend exploring this on desktop, as it will be much easier to read, but each image also has alt text.

you are standing at a crossroads, looking in every direction, assessing your options. as you consider, you find that your eyes are most consistently drawn to one particular path — which one is it?

A. the path that looks well-trodden and popular, bright and engaging, where i can see others i know walking with confidence. i like that the destination is clear, the path seems safe, and others are already walking it.

B. the path that's winding and dark and a little strange, curling out of sight and enticing in its mystery. i know where i want to go, but I'm not afraid to be surprised along the way, and i like that there might be new things to discover as i go.

C. the path that requires a bit more of a hike, with a steep incline and rocky terrain but that leads to a high summit with an incredible view. i'm comfortable with a challenge, and want to be pushed to my limits, to discover new places and see what i'm capable of.

D. the path with clear signage, milestones, landmarks, and estimates around time. i like to know exactly where i'm going, what i'll experience along the way, and how i will learn and grow as i go.

E. it's less of a path, and more of a direction — i want to have full control over the pace i move at, the steps i take, and what i find along the way. i am much more comfortable making my own path, even if it means that i have to go it alone.

you take your very first steps onto your chosen path, committing to your choice. which emotion do you experience first? what is bubbling up for you in these initial moments of movement?

A. excitement. it's so nice to be getting started, and i'm glad to know what to do and have people that i can journey with!

B. curiosity. i'm excited to learn and explore, to discover new things, and to ask big questions along the way.

C. anticipation. what discoveries and adventures lie ahead? who will i be at the end of this? how can i make this journey my own?

D. security. it's so nice to be moving in a specific direction, to understand each step of the journey, and to know what i can expect!

E. confidence. this journey has been a long time coming, and i know that whatever happens, i can handle it.

as you start to find your pacing on your chosen path, you take a few moments to look around you. what do you notice? what catches your eye? what piques your curiosity or snags your interest?

A. other people. i prefer traveling with companions, and it's really nice to share this experience with them. i love pointing out what i see, celebrating the beauty of our surroundings, and hearing what they think and feel.

B. the quiet. it's really lovely to get to escape from the noise of my daily life, to take things at my own pace, and to appreciate the stillness and solitude of this journey on my own.

C. alternative pathways branching off from the main road. i may not stay on this path, might prefer to make my own way, and it's freeing to get to make that decision for myself.

D. the landmarks and mile markers. i like that i know where I'm going, that the road is clear, and that every step of this journey was designed with me in mind.

E. the darkness ahead. i love that i'm not sure where i might end up, and that i get to discover new things along the way. there's joy in gathering my own information, relying on my own experience, and trusting myself to know what makes sense for me on this journey.

as you continue moving forward, you reach into your pocket and pull out a treasured object. what are you holding in your hand? what did you choose to bring on this journey, to bring you comfort?

A. a phone. i want to stay in touch with people i care about and share the things i'm experiencing along the way. i like that i can also take photos and notes, helping myself to be present by documenting my adventure as i go.

B. a journal. it's important to me to take time to reflect with each step, to intentionally check in with myself throughout the process, and to honor the significance of this journey as part of my own personal transformation. i am not in a rush, and want to make space for myself to enjoy every step of this experience.

C. a flashlight with a built-in compass. i want to be able to explore with confidence, to choose a direction and trust myself to find my way forward. getting lost doesn't scare me, and i can't wait to see what i find.

D. a protein bar and water. it's important for me to pace myself, to stay fueled and hydrated, so that i can continue to make steady progress. i value discipline and structure, and have milestones i want to hit on this journey.

E. a book with information and maps. i like to know what's out there, what others have done before, and compare my experiences to theirs. i trust my choices, but i value the journeys that others have taken before me, and the insights that they have to share.

your current path winds and twists to the right, but as you’re moving forward, you notice fresh tracks of some kind leading to the left. when you squint, it looks like they're leading to a small, dark, hidden cave. what do you do?

A. i look around for more information, or for someone who might know something about these tracks. i'd rather have more facts before making a decision, and i don't want to go exploring by myself.

B. i take a few steps towards the cave, then shake my head and turn back. tempting, but it's not worth the risk. maybe another time.

C. i eagerly follow the tracks, excited to see where they may lead.

D. i continue following the path to the right. whatever's in that cave is none of my business, and I have a goal in mind.

E. i stand at the start of the tracks, studying them closely. what made this little path? what might the cave contain? what does my intuition say?

you can tell that you're getting close to your destination, and find yourself reflecting on what made you start this journey in the first place. why are you here? what were you looking for?

A. support and inspiration. i've been wanting to connect with other people and build my community, to find encouragement and meet other folks who share my interests and values. i love having support for my adventures, and getting to be playful, creative, and curiosity-oriented as part of my learning process.

B. solitude and self-discovery. i've been wanting to do something just for me, and this journey has given me a much-needed chance to reflect, trust my intuition, and see what comes through in the quiet. i appreciate opportunities to honor my own inner wisdom, and to learn from my own experiences and observations.

C. adventure and challenge. i wanted to try something different, and see what i might learn about myself through the process of exploration and discovery. i like pushing myself, and love finding new ways to get to know more about who i am, what i want, and where i want to go next.

D. education and direction. i like to know where i'm going and to have a plan for how i'm going to get there, and it's really nice to have structure for my journey. i love learning as much as possible, and want to have new experiences, but find comfort in clear expectations and organization.

E. confidence and wisdom. i know a lot already, and have been eager to put my skills to the test in ways that make sense for me. i have been looking for ways to level up, expand my knowledge, and continue growing in new directions.

after expending one last burst of energy and making it around the final turn, you've made it to your destination! now that you’ve completed your journey, what do you want to do next?

A. share and connect. this was a new kind of journey for me, and i'm grateful that i was able to make it all the way to the end. i want to tell other people about what i did, and use the inspiration i've found to create something.

B. reflect and recover. i've learned a lot about myself through this journey, and am ready to take some time to process. i'm craving rest, and want to check in with myself to see what the next best step for me will be.

C. plan the next adventure. i've heard that there are some strange things to explore at the end of this path, and i'm ready to keep going, learn everything i can about this place, and find a new direction to move in.

D. appreciate my accomplishments. i've learned a lot, and i want to take a moment to organize this new knowledge into my existing experiences. i like commemorating my achievements, and want to make sure that what i've learned stays organized so that i can find it again later.

E. pass my knowledge on. there's value in sharing what we know, and i want to absorb what i've learned, explore it more deeply, and discuss it with those who might have recently had similar experiences.
