your tarot readings don’t need more intricacy.
they need more depth, more heart, more personality.
they need more of you.
a lot of intermediate tarot students think that the path to better, clearer, more powerful and precise tarot readings is adding in more techniques — a.k.a. using more cards, or complex tarot spreads, or reversals, or clarifying cards, or precision timing interpretations, or decan walks, or symbology studies, or correspondence systems, or whatever else feels “advanced” to you.
and listen, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with bringing in more techniques, if that’s what you’re into. but if you’ve been studying tarot for awhile and still feel like something major is missing, if you’re constantly walking away from your readings wishing for more, somehow — the issue might be something else entirely.
you probably don't need more techniques. what you need is an actual relationship with the cards, one where you and the tarot combine your magics together to make something uniquely yours, something you can consistently trust.
your tarot readings feel flat, impersonal, cold.
your card interpretations are cookie-cutter, generic, and disconnected from your actual life.
the answers that the cards give you never seem to go deep enough, or actually address your true concerns.
you keep studying, keep making your tarot readings more complicated, but they just take longer to do — they’re not actually giving you the information and support you crave.
you long to feel a rush of clarity and certainty when you pull cards, instead of a pit in your stomach or a relentless feeling of confusion.
and you wish that your tarot practice really reflected you — your humor, your sparkle, your experience, your identity, your magic, your values, and your brilliance.
when i first started reading tarot back in 2016, i felt lost, confused, and pissed off. i found the same keywords repeated everywhere, found the same general tarot spreads shared again and again, found the same advice to pull a card a day or journal about the rider-waite-smith. the emphasis was on memorizing things that other people told me were true, whether i understood and believed them or not.
it all felt bland, and dull, and repetitive. i didn’t want to treat the tarot cards like flash cards — i wanted the cards to connect to me and my life. i didn’t want to see strangers in the cards — i wanted to see myself, a queer non-binary chronically ill person living through a polycrisis and perpetually angry at the government.
i wanted to give myself tarot readings that felt personal and decisive, wanted to ask questions that reflected my struggles and needs, wanted to receive answers that helped me live my life with purpose and intention.
i didn’t want my tarot readings to be more complicated — i wanted them to be more clear.
maybe you’re ready to go beyond standardized descriptions made popular by white guys who are long dead. maybe you’re craving tarot readings that feel less like a lecture from a disappointed parent and more like a pep talk or a warm hug from your best friend.
and maybe you want to build a tarot practice that can support you now, today, in the midst of deep collective grief and necessary, powerful resistance movements.
so did i. the answer, for me, wasn’t in adding in complicated or advanced tarot techniques — it was in challenging my assumptions about what my practice had to be. it was in learning to translate what the cards were telling me into a language i could understand. it was in living alongside the archetypes, instead of just looking at them.
and it was in letting the tarot teach me how to trust myself, instead of always outsourcing my intuition to other people.
now i can give tarot readings that cut to the quick with only a few cards. i can whip up precise questions and customized tarot spreads in minutes, ones that get to the heart of the real problem. i can pull cards anywhere, any time, with any deck, and get the answers i need. and i’ve taught hundreds of people to do the same thing, their way.
i can teach you to do all of this, too. but your reading style, your time commitments, your personal capacity, and your lived experience might be really different than mine — which is why i created the hermitage.

find your path in the hermitage, and build a tarot practice that supports your real life.
i love creating tarot resources that meet you where you are and help you celebrate the unique power that you bring to the cards. the tarot is a tool: you are the one who fully activates its magic.
i can help you create the tarot practice of your dreams — one that is truly yours.
tarot students of all levels are welcome to join the hermitage! this membership does include access to my beginner's lectures as well as a number of resources that are supportive for readers of any experience level.
however, if you are specifically looking for resources that are primarily oriented towards tarot newbies, you might be happier starting here.
everything in the hermitage is self-paced, so there are no expectations for hourly commitments or weekly live session attendance. if you're someone that likes to jump in head-first and move at a good clip, you can get a lot out of this membership in just a few months. but if you'd prefer to take your time and really sink your teeth into these courses, there's truly enough here to keep you busy for years — and i add new content all the time.
first of all, there's no such thing as "falling behind" in the hermitage or in any of my courses. ask any of my students — i remind them of this literally all the time.
your pace is your pace. your capacity is your capacity. i regularly encourage people to be gentle and compassionate with themselves, to learn as they're able, and to not judge themselves for not "doing more." this world is hard enough, and i have no intention of making it harder.
that being said, i host monthly co-working sessions on zoom for anyone who likes body doubling or working alongside others. we also have an accountability channel in discord for folks who want to share where they're at, find study buddies, or schedule their own co-working sessions.
and if you ever need one-on-one support, i'm just a DM away.
active members receive an email during the first week of each month with a downloadable audio transmission, suggested tarot spreads and activities, and recommended materials to explore. i'm also putting together new courses that will be released in monthly portions, which i plan to launch in autumn 2026.
i also regularly do teach-ins for other tarot teachers, and when they are okay with it, i share those recordings with hermitage members as well.
nope! you can join the hermitage anytime and cancel anytime, no questions asked.
let's chat! you can email me with questions at 3am.tarot@gmail.com — i'm very happy to help you figure out if the hermitage is a good fit for you.
i also host quarterly open houses that are very chill and completely free to attend. our next open house is on april 29th at 7pm EST, and you can join here.
