today’s new moon in scorpio invites reflection, deep internal exploration, and a willingness to release something in order to move forward. every time we start another moon cycle, we set intentions, think through our goals and ambitions, make plans for what we’ll be working towards over the next few weeks. but this new moon in scorpio asks us to specifically consider our own personal magic, the ways we understand and interact with our shadows, the relationship we have with power. are you holding on tight to something that needs to be let go? have you been ignoring your intuition, pushing forward on something that you know isn’t really right? are you bottling up emotions that are demanding release? spend time in deep reflection, taking a hard look at your internal landscape. this new moon may bring up some uncomfortable emotions, but by acknowledging and moving through them we can make space for powerful new beginnings and a new freedom of movement.
my spread for this new moon urges us to believe in ourselves, to harness our magic, and to be willing to release what isn’t working. let your intuition guide you in this reading, and bring a spirit of awareness and openness, even if it feels challenging. the reactions and emotions that this season evokes are important, and could signal the beginning of an essential, intense shift.
what to believe: the world. i tend to skew negative, cynical, disbelieving. i don’t see possibility around every corner, or think of myself as a half-glass-full kind of person. yet the world in this position asks me to believe in potential, in evolution, in endless growth and opportunity. this is a card of endings and new beginnings, of completion, of integration. by believing that this is something that’s possible for me, by shifting my view to include success or wholeness or lasting joy, i can make space for so much more. this card is huge, powerful, overwhelming - and yet it asks me to believe in something bigger than me, something permanent and real and eternal.
where to listen: four of coins. through my work this year, i’ve built a lot of structures - creating a patreon, building out my website, creating patterns of work around moon cycles and astrological seasons and my own personal ebbs and flows. but focusing on discipline in so many ways could be stripping me of joy, limiting my ability to be creative or generous or open-minded. how am i controlling my resources, my energy, my abilities? are things so stable that they feel stifled? i need to listen to my intuition, stop defining success by wealth or other metrics and instead consider how my ambitions are feeding or impeding my personal magic.
where to change: nine of swords. a card of anxiety, insomnia, terror, and imagined misery, the nine of swords speaks to twisted narratives, the ways that we imagine ourselves as a victim or surrender our own power. and while this card often urges us to ask for help, to acknowledge mental health issues or trauma or periods of depression, it also challenges us to consider where we’re exaggerating issues, letting ourselves be overwhelmed by fear so that we don’t feel obligated to shift or act. as someone with multiple chronic illnesses and mental health conditions, it’s easy for me to chalk many struggles up to these disorders - and yet i may be limiting my own growth, making excuses or pushing a narrative that gives me permission to stay stagnant or hidden. this new moon may force me to confront some of these patterns, but by acknowledging them i can move through them, find the evolution promised in the world.
this is a tough reading, but one that feels really important and necessary for me right now. my perspectives may be too limited, and i could be stifling my own growth by staying so fixed in certain patterns and cycles. this new moon offers a chance to break free, to see bigger possibilities, to release beliefs and make space for new dreams.
