reading tarot did not come naturally to me. after buying my first deck in 2016, it didn’t seem to matter how many resources i had at my fingertips or how many definitions i studied. every time i picked up the cards, i struggled to feel a connection, like i was grasping at straws or always relying on the insights of others.

and after over six months of trying to read tarot, i nearly gave up.

but then i found an article discussing the numerology of the minor arcana, specifically on grouping the minor arcana cards with the same number together, and it was like everything fell into place. by studying the language of numbers, and in transferring that knowledge onto the tarot’s major arcana, suddenly i understood what i’d been missing. i began seeing patterns and sequences in my readings, creating connections that helped me remember the more standard meanings for cards as well as creating my own.

instead of relying on the old keywords i’d been trying to memorize, i had a framework for where those meanings came from. and once i understood how the cards built on each other in sequence, i felt empowered to create definitions for myself - ones that i continue to build on, and still resonate with me today.
